NASCC: The Steel Conference was a major milestone for the Ferra team.

We went into the event with a simple goal: have real conversations with structural steel fabricators, erectors, estimators, executives, and operators about the future of steel preconstruction.

We left with more conviction than ever.

Across the week, more than 50 companies gave us their full information and asked to schedule demos with Ferra. As of now, over 31 demos have already been booked, with many teams already moving into second conversations.

That momentum matters, but the bigger signal was what we heard repeatedly from the market:

Steel estimating is still too manual, too fragmented, and too dependent on tools that were not built specifically for the way fabricators and erectors work.

A Customer Perspective on the Future of Steel Technology

One of the highlights of the week was hearing Stephanie Green from Atlas Iron Works speak about the current technology landscape available to steel fabricators and erectors.

Stephanie shared a practical, operator-focused perspective on what steel companies are dealing with today, what tools are helping, where the gaps still exist, and how teams should think about adopting new technology.

For us, it was especially meaningful to hear a customer speak openly about the challenges in the market and where Ferra fits into the future of steel preconstruction.

The best product validation does not come from a polished sales pitch. It comes from customers explaining the pain in their own words.

That was one of the most valuable moments of the entire conference.

A Last-Minute Deep Dive Session

Ferra also had the opportunity to run a deep dive session at NASCC.

The opportunity came together quickly. Another session opened up, and AISC gave us the chance to step in.

With very little prep and very little notice, our team walked through Ferra live in front of a room full of steel professionals.

We showed how Ferra is approaching structural steel takeoff, revision control, bid intelligence, and 3D model generation. More importantly, we had direct conversations with the people who live inside these workflows every day.

That session confirmed something important:

The industry is not looking for another generic PDF markup tool.

Fabricators and erectors are looking for software that understands steel. They want tools that help them move faster, reduce risk, and still give them confidence in the output.

What We Heard from Fabricators and Erectors

Throughout the week, the same themes came up again and again.

Estimators are under pressure to bid more work with the same team.

Teams are still relying heavily on manual takeoff workflows, spreadsheets, PDF markups, and disconnected tools.

Executives want better visibility into bid risk, revisions, and estimating consistency.

Fabricators and erectors are not against technology. They are against tools that create more work, add more complexity, or fail to match the realities of structural steel.

That distinction matters.

The market is ready for better software, but the bar is high. Trust, accuracy, auditability, and workflow fit matter more than hype.

That is exactly how we are thinking about Ferra.

Why NASCC Was So Important for Ferra

For Ferra, NASCC was not just a conference.

It was a market signal.

The conversations we had, the demos that were booked, the feedback we received, and the support from customers all pointed in the same direction:

Structural steel preconstruction is ready for purpose-built software.

Our team left NASCC with more urgency, more clarity, and more responsibility.

We know the problem is real.

We know the market is paying attention.

Now the job is execution.

Thank You

A huge thank you to AISC for hosting an incredible event and for giving Ferra the opportunity to participate in such a meaningful way.

Thank you to Stephanie Green and Atlas Iron Works for sharing an honest perspective on the current state of technology in steel.

Thank you to our customers, partners, and supporters who showed up for us throughout the week.

And thank you to every fabricator, erector, estimator, and executive who spent time with the Ferra team at NASCC.

We are building Ferra for the people who bid, build, and deliver structural steel every day.

NASCC made it clear that the industry is ready for what comes next.
